Scott Avenue
LOCATION: Scott Avenue, Broadway Boulevard to 14th Street
AREA: 0.25 mi
CLIENT: City of Tucson
COMPLETION DATE: 2021
The overall goal for Scott Avenue was to create a safer, more pedestrian-friendly street in downtown Tucson. This “strolling street” in downtown Tucson leads people from the modern streetcar facilities and existing parking garages to cultural landmarks such as the Temple of Music and Art, Royal Elizabeth Bed and Breakfast, Scottish Rite Cathedral, and Children’s Museum (historic Carnegie Library). The streetscape is visually interesting and inviting both day and night, functions for existing businesses, and accommodates for future development. Construction was complete in May 2009, and the project received the 2016 AzASLA Honor Award for General Design.
