University of Arizona Old Main

The Old Main project was a result of the relocation of the University of Arizona Admissions Office to the oldest building on campus.  As part of the renovation, the east side of Old Main was programmed to become a major campus gathering area. WDG worked with architects to maintain historically sensitive standards, and determine materials and approaches to create a universally accessible destination at the west end of the University's main mall. The Old Main Renovation project was recognized as a "Top 20 Project" at the 2015 Metropolitan Pima Alliance (MPA) Common Ground Celebration. 

Pathways, areas for seating, and attractive gardens were incorporated into the design to create comfortable and inviting gathering spaces. Grades were carefully adjusted to protect the integrity of Old Main and its historic setting. The enhanced outdoor spaces make this celebrated University of Arizona building a focal point on campus.
