Wheat Design Group in collaboration with ADOT Roadside Development designed aesthetic treatments for the bridge abutments, piers and pedestrian fencing depicting the story of “Mos” Ruthrauff. Ruthrauff Road is named after John “Mos” Ruthrauff, Tucson’s chief civil engineer between 1912 and 1917. He designed the original 4th Avenue Bridge, the former city hall and the original Congress Street Bridge. He also guided all public works related to the first paving and lighting of our city streets, proving instrumental in modernizing Tucson.
