Wheat Design Group, in collaboration with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) and civil engineering partners, is involved in the design of several bike boulevard projects across Tucson. These projects convert neighborhood streets into bicycle boulevards, expanding Tucson’s low stress biking network and providing additional routes to employment centers, local destinations, schools, and parks. Projects that Wheat Design Group has been involved in include the Treat Avenue Bike Boulevards, Arcadia and Timrod Bike Boulevards, Blacklidge Drive Bike Boulevards, and Westside Bike Boulevards.
These projects were identified in the City of Tucson Bicycle Boulevard Master Plan and funded through Proposition 407. WDG specializes in landscape treatments, encompassing desert-adapted planting, green stormwater infrastructure, and traffic calming enhancements. These treatments play a vital role in shading streets and enhancing the accessibility of bike boulevards.
